At the start of the YMCA Wilderness Summer Camp project, I met with the YMCA marketing team to understand the program’s mission, audience, and the unique environment of Camp Alambre. These early conversations helped define the tone and purpose of the editorial piece, ensuring it would resonate with executives and families alike. Shortly after, our team at RYET conducted on‑site fieldwork in the Serra da Arrábida, capturing photographs and gathering insights that would shape the visual direction of the brochure.
Problem solving
To communicate the spirit of the YMCA Wilderness Summer Camp, I developed an editorial approach that balanced clarity, emotion, and visual storytelling. The photography captured the natural beauty of the Serra da Arrábida and the multicultural energy of the camp, while the layout emphasized accessibility and engagement for busy executives and families. By combining real moments, clear information, and a structured visual flow, the brochure became both an invitation and a reassurance — highlighting the camp’s safety, location, and unique outdoor experiences in a way that felt trustworthy, inspiring, and easy to act upon.
Results
The final brochure gave YMCA Setúbal a compelling and professional tool to promote their Wilderness Summer Camp. The combination of on‑site photography, clear information, and a structured editorial layout made the program feel trustworthy, engaging, and easy to understand. The result is a brochure that effectively communicates the camp’s value to executives and families, capturing the spirit of Camp Alambre and supporting the YMCA’s mission to provide meaningful summer experiences for children.
Implimentation
Once the concept was established, I translated it into a cohesive editorial piece — combining photography, layout, and clear information into a unified design. After selecting and editing the images captured during fieldwork, I structured the brochure as a foldable square format that guided readers through the camp’s location, activities, and values. The final design ensured clarity, emotional impact, and consistency across all visual elements, creating a brochure that felt both engaging and easy to navigate.
